Thank you for clarifying the context of your original question.?It seems to have inspired a very worthwhile discussion that may lead to something even more worthwhile.?Incidentally, Michael Shayer is a very aprochable man.?You should contact him directly.?If you can't get an address for him on Google someone on the Piaget list can surely provide it.?Years ago the education minister of Venezuela (long before the likes of Hugo Chavez) instituted a Piaget inspired program for raising the cognitive level of his country's children.?It focused, as I recall, on infancy rather than adolescence and I have no idea what became of it.?Back in the 70's I tried to encourage exchange of information on fostering abstract thinking via a publication, The Formal Operator, which also petered out as did a California curricular initiative for which I prepared a text, Adventures in Thinking, that is long out of print.?The quick fix mentality works against sustained efforts.?&AuthorName=Edith Neimark
