There are a number of reasons that Piagetian concepts do not hold sway.? 1.?The range of stage studied is limited usually to 1 or 2 stages. 2.?Although there a models of stage transition, very few are translatable into real world terms. ??They are abstract and do not mesh well with accounts that increase active engagement 3. The range of adult stages included stops at formal.?This is a real problem with Shayer. Most professionals perform at the systematic stage, most good research scientists and leaders perform at the metaystematic.?The highest stage people get the most press attention. 4.?With the expect ions of Fischer and crew, there is very little work on where in the brain, tasks requiring higher stages are missing.?So?the whole meshing with neuroscience is weak. 5.?To show big effects, one needs to include a large range of stages.?We do not 6.?We hope that constructivst education will solve all problems including motivational ones. |
