My own view is we should not make up empty explanations that are circular like intuition.?The fact is we do not know very much about the psychology of problem solving.?We know a lot about the sequence in which problems are solved.?These are well ordered.?But what happens when one goes from not solving a problem to solving is only guessed at by simulations.?These include neural networks and non-linear systems.?There are better theories of consciousness?and its role in problem solving.?I have such a model if any one is interested.?I think old philosophy is not where we are going to find answers. |
