Considering the richness of the Inhelder and Piagetian systems, I leave questions about them to Les Smith and others who are much more knowledgeable.?But with respect to Behavioral Developmental systems including the Model of Hierarchical Complexity (MHC), as the originator, I am the expert.?Maybe it is a difficult task to compare two systems that have much in common but some differences.?One of the interesting similarities are that the stages a almost the same, with MHC adding just the sentential stage and adding 3 postformal stages.?The stage transition system is also very similar to Piaget's dialectical account.?What is different is where the structure is placed.?In the MHC it is placed in the task demands, and in Inhelder and Piaget, in action and the mind.?To me, these are not very great differences, with the MHC being more general, applying to animals, machines and evolution because it has fewer assumptions.
