Particularly in cases where the the counter suggestion is being used to see if it elicits a better response (as opposed to seeing if a poor counter suggestion leads to a lowering of the child's response) you might want to be careful about the child taking into consideration the authority of the source of the counter-suggestion.? Also, how interested/concerned are you that the counter-suggestion might be formative and not just evaluative??
A possible focus here is an attempt to isolate the effect of countersuggestions on children who are transitional-- for example, not so totally seduced by appearances as evident in a typical preoperational response but yet not quite having achieved the structures responsible for a feeling of logical necessity.?On one hand, this could be seen as taking off from Piagetian work on "learning" a la Inhelder, Sinclair, and Bovet).?On the other hand, it might be seen as an interesting encounter between Piaget and Vygotsky.
