When Piaget was in Zurich in 1918/19, he attended lectures and courses at the university which were held in German. He did not write in German, but he was able to read and understand it (for example, he was reading Imago, the Austrian journal of psychoanalysis, when he was in Zurich). In Switzerland, all French-speaking children have to learn German, and vice versa. Richard |
