I think that the empirical evidence for each order needs to be brought more into the open, so we can look at each order, and at each experiment for each order & stage, so the reader can judge how well the evidence supports the specific claims. Michael: you should make a new topic “Empirical Support?at http://www.dareassociation.org/papers.php And each paper within that topic should be labeled by which order/stage number(s) are being examined. You refer eg to the 1982 book about the SOLO Taxonomy. That title is not even listed at Amazon, or the publisher! If you still have copies of papers or chapters, can they not be copied for online reading? Then I will be able to decide for myself on the questions that Les raises. I still want to know about the reasons and/or evidence for postulating the Sentential Order 5. There are big jumps from ‘relations among concepts?at Order 4 and ‘simple deductions?at Order 6, I agree. Perhaps there is more substructure hidden here? PS. You say “MHC stages 4-6 correspond to Piaget’s?pre-operational stage; 6-8 correspond to his concrete operational stage; and 9-11 correspond to his formal operational stage.?I ask: is Order 6 pre-operational, or operational? |
