THE 5TH COMPARATIVE EDUCATION SOCIETY OF ASIA BIENNIAL CONFERENCE 2005 (CESA 2005)

Theme: Education for World Peace: The Asian Context
Present and future fragility due to political and economic uncertainties has reinforced the need for world peace. The influence of globalization and the need to respect diversity have made comparative education an essential tool to understand a fast changing world and to find new solutions. This Comparative Education Conference considers the implications of comparative studies for the formation and implementation of policies not only in education but in social, national and international development in pursuit of global peace. Thus, this conference welcomes contribution from related disciplines in the fields of law, psychology, communication, management, sociology, science and technology as these affect educational policy decisions.
Objectives
1) To enhance collaboration among global stakeholders in promoting education for peace.
2) To disseminate research findings and intellectual discourse regarding critical issues in comparative education.
3) To discuss comparative perspectives on diversity, ethics and sustainability in the pursuit of global peace.
4) To share and exchange current information on effective educational governance and policies.
5) To provide a platform for future networking for rapid distribution of current knowledge in comparative education.

Submission of Abstracts
Please send an abstract of your paper (approximately 200 words) and your biodata (approximately 50 words) to the Secretariat before 31st January 2005. It can be sent by e-mail or by mail on a floppy disk (MS word). Please name the file according to author and include the following information together with your abstract:

Conference Fee
Foreign Participant USD 250 Malaysian Participant RM 600 Graduate Student RM 300
The registration fee includes lunches, refreshments and conference materials.
Payment by bank draft/money order must be made payable to BENDAHARI UKM (CESA 2005). Please send the registration form and payment to the Secretariat.

Important Deadlines
* 31 January 2005 submission of abstract. * 28 Feb. 2005 notification of acceptance. * 31 March 2005 submission of full paper.
Conference proceedings will be published in CD format. If you wish to have your paper included in the proceedings, kindly submit a soft copy of your full paper to the Secretariat. The full paper, not exceeding 10 pages (single spacing, 11 font New Times Roman), should be submitted to the Secretariat by mail, fax or e-mail (cesa2005@pkrisc.cc.ukm.my) no later than 31 March 2005.
